Mason Klinck, EA, MST, MBA

 

Mason Klinck is a Tax Manager at our firm. Mason's duties consist of assisting clients under audit and preparing supporting evidence for examinations and litigation. Mason also aids in legal research and developing positions for litigation. Mason has broad experience in taxation and financial planning as well as representing taxpayers in audits and other controversies before the IRS and various state authorities.

Before joining the Law Offices of Stephen Moskowitz, LLP, Mason worked as an income tax auditor for both the Internal Revenue Service and the California Franchise Tax Board. In that capacity, he examined individuals, partnerships, corporations and trusts for unreported income as well as overstated basis and deductions. He also examined tax shelters and abusive tax avoidance transactions, developed fraud cases and was a hearings officer for tax protesters.

Mason also has many years of experience in tax compliance in public accounting and financial planning for high net-worth individuals and small businesses. Mason has represented taxpayers in resolving IRS audits and collections matters. He has assisted clients in planning for stock options, estimated tax payments, AMT minimization, dividends and distributions, retirement plans, and wealth transfers for estates and trusts. His career began with finance at Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS), Bank of America International and Merrill Lynch in New York City. He gradually expanded his scope to embrace taxation in all its aspects. Mason has also lectured at Pace University in New York.

Education

Mason has a Master's degree from Oxford University, a Master of Science in Taxation from California State University, and an MBA from Boston College. He is an Enrolled Agent authorized by the IRS to represent taxpayers in tax controversies.

Mason has contributed chapters to scholarly books, including International Financial Management, Sobel and Katz, Chicago: Probus Press (1991) and Biographical Directory of the Council of Economic Advisers, Sobel and Katz, New York: Greenwood Press (1988).
